In short
- It is published by Vycte, one of the consultancies listed: we describe all of them with the same criteria and only with what their own websites say.
- It is not a ranking: the order is alphabetical and no company has paid to appear.
- To choose, compare ICEX approval, ACCIÓ accreditation, experience in your sector and country, languages, fee model and KPIs.
- Tell apart consultancies that deliver strategy from those that run customer acquisition on your behalf.
- Part of the cost can be funded through ICEX Next or ACCIÓ vouchers if you hire an approved or accredited consultant.
How we compiled this list (updated October 2026)
Many lists of export consultancies circulating online are years old and do not reflect what each firm offers today. So we reviewed the official website of each consultancy included, one by one, and summarised only what they publish themselves.
- Inclusion criterion: companies based in Spain with an active internationalisation or export service described on their website.
- Variety: we looked for different models (external export manager, outsourced department, B2B agendas, outsourcing with logistics, digital focus) and offices in several regions.
- Neutrality: no rankings or superlatives; statements in quotation marks belong to each consultancy, not to us.
- No prices: they depend on each project and none of the profiles include them.
This is not an exhaustive list. Spain has many more foreign trade consultancies, independent professionals and a network of ICEX-approved consultants. If you run one of the consultancies listed and any detail needs correcting, write to us via contact and we will review it.
The best internationalisation consultancies in Spain, in alphabetical order

If you are looking for export consultancies in Barcelona or Catalonia, this list includes Barcelona Export (Mataró), Co.Mark (headquartered in Barcelona) and Vycte (Tarragona). For a Catalan company, also check whether the provider is accredited by ACCIÓ, as this is required to use the internationalisation vouchers.
How to choose an internationalisation consultancy: 8 criteria
A foreign trade consultancy can be excellent and still not be right for you. These are the criteria worth comparing, in line with the checklist in our guide to the outsourced export department:
| Criterion | What to check |
|---|---|
| ICEX approval | Whether the consultant is approved for the ICEX Next programme, required if you want ICEX to co-fund the advice. |
| ACCIÓ accreditation | If your company is in Catalonia, that the provider is accredited by ACCIÓ when you apply for the voucher. |
| Sector and country experience | Cases in your sector and target markets, with names and concrete results. |
| Languages | That the team genuinely speaks your buyers' languages, rather than relying on translation tools. |
| Fee model | Fixed fee, commission or mixed; what each phase includes and what is billed separately (travel, fairs, databases). |
| Tools and data | How they choose markets (official statistics, import prices) and which tools they use to find buyers and manage the CRM. |
| Active acquisition vs. strategy only | Whether they just deliver a plan or also contact, negotiate and follow up on your behalf. |
| KPI transparency | Regular reports on activity, meetings, quotes and customers, with data always owned by you. |
Questions to ask before hiring an export consultancy
- What cases do you have in my sector or with a similar product, and in which countries?
- Who will work on my project and which languages do they speak?
- How do you choose markets? With what data and sources?
- Will you contact buyers on my behalf or just hand me a plan?
- Which KPIs will you report and how often?
- What exactly does the fee include and what is billed separately?
- Who owns the contacts, the CRM and the materials if we end the engagement?
- Do you also work for my direct competitors?
- Are you ICEX-approved or ACCIÓ-accredited, in case I want to apply for a grant?
Red flags when choosing a consultancy
- Guaranteed sales promises within short timeframes, without knowing your product or prices.
- A fixed price with no prior diagnosis and no proposal broken down by phase.
- Vague cases («we have helped hundreds of companies») with no names, markets or results.
- Lists of twenty countries as a first step, instead of prioritising two or three with data.
- Contacts and CRM held by the consultancy, with no access for your company.
- No regular reports or follow-up meetings agreed in the contract.
- Grants as the main sales argument, without explaining that they depend on an open call and meeting the requirements.
How to fund internationalisation consultancy
Two public programmes pay for part of the advice, as long as you hire a consultant recognised by the funding body:
- ICEX Next: according to ICEX, the programme has more than 200 approved external consultants, specialised by sector, market and cross-cutting areas, who help companies draw up their International Business Strategic Plan. The company receives at least 30 hours of advice from an approved expert and a grant of up to 24,000 euros.
- ACCIÓ vouchers (Catalonia): they fund advice from an ACCIÓ-accredited provider to design the international plan or start exporting. We explain them in ACCIÓ vouchers for exporting.
Conditions change with each call and some require you to apply before hiring the service. As of October 2026, check the latest status in our internationalisation grants guide or ask us through our grants service.
Alternatives to hiring an internationalisation consultancy
A consultancy is not the only route. Depending on your international volume and budget, another option or a combination may suit you better:
- In-house export department: maximum control, but high fixed cost and months of recruitment and learning. It makes sense once volume justifies it.
- Part-time export manager: one professional with their own network and languages for a few hours a week. A fit if you already know which market to target.
- AI export tools: platforms such as Exporta.ai show you which countries have demand for your product, the price at which you can enter and which importers and distributors could buy from you, so your team can prospect on its own.
- Mixed model: start with a consultancy or an outsourced department and, once markets are validated, hire someone in-house who inherits the CRM and processes.
We compare these models in detail in our guide to the outsourced export department. If you are still deciding whether to export, start with how to export as an SME and, for finding buyers, how to find international distributors.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best internationalisation consultancies in Spain?
There is no single best one for everyone: it depends on your sector, markets and whether you need strategy or active acquisition. Consultancies with a verifiable service as of October 2026 include Aproxyma, Barcelona Export, Co.Mark, Exportise, Gedeth Network, Linkingmarket, Redflexión, Valtrading and Vycte. Compare their experience in your sector, languages, ICEX approval or ACCIÓ accreditation and how they report results.
What is an ICEX-approved internationalisation consultancy?
It is a consultancy or external consultant that ICEX has approved to provide advice within its ICEX Next programme. According to ICEX, there are more than 200 approved consultants, specialised by sector, market and cross-cutting areas, who help SMEs draw up their International Business Strategic Plan. Hiring one is required for ICEX to co-fund that consultancy work.
How much does an export consultancy cost?
There is no standard price. Consultancies work with a monthly fixed fee, commission on sales or a mixed model, and the cost depends on the number of markets and languages, dedication, product complexity and whether travel and fairs are billed separately. Ask for a proposal broken down by phase after a diagnosis, and check whether ICEX Next or ACCIÓ vouchers can cover part of it.
Which export consultancies are there in Barcelona and Catalonia?
In this comparison, Barcelona Export is based in Mataró, Co.Mark España in Barcelona and Vycte in Tarragona. There are many more in Catalonia. If your company is Catalan, check that the provider is accredited by ACCIÓ, because the internationalisation vouchers only fund advice from providers that are accredited at the time of application.
What is the difference between a foreign trade consultancy and an outsourced export department?
A foreign trade consultancy may limit itself to strategy, market studies or paperwork. An outsourced export department goes further: it takes on the international sales function, contacts buyers in their language, prepares trade fairs and reports with KPIs. Many consultancies offer both, so always ask whether they run customer acquisition or only deliver the plan.
